This study further revealed that these victims experienced negative social identity perceptions, encompassing their self-image and perceived partner suitability. Across 39 Japanese municipalities in 2016, data were derived from a population-based cohort including functionally independent people of 65 years or older. Using multivariate logistic regression, researchers analyzed the connection between PMC, PWD, and poor health in a sample size of 20286 participants. Using a causal mediation analysis approach, the investigators sought to determine if childhood economic hardship and family violence mediated the association. Of the participants surveyed, a percentage of 197% reported PMC, encompassing 33% of PWD.
